Abstract

Hypertension is one of the non-communicable diseases with an increasing prevalence, especially among the elderly. Non-pharmacological management of hypertension is considered a safer and more affordable alternative, one of which is foot soaking therapy using warm water combined with salt and lemongrass. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of warm water foot soak therapy with the addition of salt and lemongrass on reducing blood pressure in patients with hypertension in Kragilan Village. This case study employed a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest approach. The sample consisted of hypertensive patients who met the inclusion criteria, selected through purposive sampling. The intervention involved soaking the feet in warm water at a temperature of 38–40°C mixed with salt and lemongrass for 15–20 minutes, conducted over several days. Blood pressure was measured before and after the intervention using a digital sphygmomanometer. The statistical analysis results showed a significant reduction in both systolic and diastolic blood pressure after the therapy. These findings indicate that the combination of warm water, salt, and lemongrass is effective in helping reduce blood pressure in patients with hypertension
