Pneumonia is an acute lower respiratory tract infection characterized by inflammation of the alveoli and accumulation of secretions, which disrupt gas exchange. This disease is one of the leading causes of death due to infection, especially in developing countries, including Indonesia. According to WHO (2021), there were 19,671 pneumonia-related deaths in Indonesia. Non-pharmacological interventions such as the semi-Fowler’s position and chest physiotherapy are important to improve the respiratory function of patients. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of applying the semi-Fowler’s position and chest physiotherapy in increasing oxygen saturation and reducing respiratory rate in adult pneumonia patients. This research used a case study design involving two respondents in the Ruhama ward at RSIY PDHI. Interventions were carried out for three days by applying the semi-Fowler’s position and chest physiotherapy once daily. The results showed an increase in oxygen saturation in the first respondent from 93% to 99%, and in the second respondent from 94% to 99%. The respiratory rate decreased in the first respondent from 26 breaths/minute to 22 breaths/minute and in the second from 25 to 20 breaths/minute. The interventions also helped reduce complaints of shortness of breath and facilitated the removal of secretions. The conclusion of this study shows that the combination of the semi-Fowler’s position and chest physiotherapy is effective in improving the respiratory status of pneumonia patients. These interventions can be considered supportive therapy to accelerate recovery and enhance patient comfort during treatment
